How To Fix A Broken Necklace

Nothing is worse than having one of your favorite necklaces get broken. Fortunately, most problems that occur with necklaces are relatively easy and inexpensive to fix. You just need the right tools and supplies. Of course, when it comes to how to fix a broken necklace, it really depends on what is wrong with it.

Easy To Fix And Affordable

One of the most common issues that happen with necklaces is that the lobster clasp breaks or comes loose. This is a relatively easy fix that doesn’t cost a lot of money. All that you need to do is head to your local craft store and pick up a new lobster clasp. Most craft stores have a section that is specifically dedicated to jewelry making. Make sure that the color of the clasp matches the color of your necklace. For instance, if the necklace is gold, choose a gold lobster clasp.

Lobster Clasps

Once you have the clasp, all that you need to do is remove the old clasp and put the new one in its place. Most lobster clasps are held on with a small ring that is known as a jump ring. These rings are usually perfectly round and have been cut all the way through on one side of the ring. All that you have to do to open them is to use a pair of pliers to separate one side of the ring from the other. Then, you can slip the ring on or off the necklace.

Holding The Broken Clasp

To make the repairs, open the jump ring that is holding the broken clasp on the necklace. Slide it off of the necklace. Then, open the jump ring on the new lobster clasp and attach it to the end of the necklace that you just removed the old clasp from. Use the pliers to gently squeeze the ends of the jump ring back together. Voilà! The new clasp should now be securely attached in place, allowing you to wear your necklace again.

You can also use this technique to replace or jewlery repair near me the ring that the clasp attaches to on the other side of the necklace. Again, it is just a matter of opening the jump ring, removing the old ring, and adding a new one in its place.

This is one of the easiest ways to fix a broken necklace. Best of all, it usually only cost a few dollars for all of the supplies that you need for the project.
